  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp espresso powder (optional)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 package candy eyes
  • 20 oz semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp heavy cream, to thin

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9 x 9-inch cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter with dark chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
  3. In a mixer, beat eggs until frothy, then combine with the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract.
  4. Mix in dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
  5. Spread the batter in the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes.
  6. Cool completely before dipping in melted chocolate mixed with coconut oil.
  7. Decorate with icing to create mummy bandages and add candy eyes.
