  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with chopped onion until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
  3. Season the meat with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, followed by half of the beef mixture and half of the cream of mushroom soup mixed with milk. Repeat layers.
  5. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and drizzle melted butter over it. Optionally sprinkle paprika for color.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
