  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. Add butter, eggs, food coloring, vanilla extract, and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients; knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter with brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread filling evenly and roll into a log.
  7. Slice into rolls and let them rise again for 30 minutes in a greased baking dish.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. For frosting, beat cream cheese with butter and powdered sugar until smooth; frost warm rolls before serving.
