  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook the ground beef with minced garlic and chopped onion until browned (about 10 minutes). Drain any excess liquid.
  2. Stir in the chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, ground cumin, dried oregano, and cayenne pepper into the beef mixture.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for one hour while stirring occasionally.
  4. Add in the rinsed pinto beans and salt; stir well and cook for an additional 15 minutes.
