  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ cup mashed banana (about 1 large banana)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (for filling)
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 large bananas (sliced)
  • For cream cheese frosting: heavy cream, cream cheese, unsalted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Heat milk until lukewarm. In a bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and sugar. Stir in yeast and let sit for about 5 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture until a dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread soft butter over it and sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and sliced bananas.
  5. Roll tightly from one edge to form a log; slice into equal pieces.
  6. Place rolls in a greased baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Pour slightly warmed heavy cream over rolls before baking for about 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. While baking, mix cream cheese frosting ingredients until smooth.
  9. Once baked and slightly cooled, drizzle or spread frosting over warm rolls.
